Harry Potter Party & Global Warming

What a week!! Our tiny little bookstore generated a tidal wave of publicity - we could barely cope but it was so much fun:-) We had 3 local news stations around for the party and at a conservative estimate we had between 1500 and 2000 people attending - most of them in costume. C came as Hagrid after convincing me that he wouldn't be dressing up. I went as Tonks complete with pink hair (don't worry Mum it washed out)

The thing that really sticks with me is the look on peoples faces when we handed out HP7 as it's become known around the store, their faces just lit up. I finished my copy over the weekend because I didn't want to learn the end from someone else's casual comment. Read it yourself and find out - my lips are sealed.

Now onto something that hubby and I really disagree about - global warming. The UK is currently suffering its worst flooding in 60 years. There's been snow in Rio, India has had such cold temps that people have been dropping dead from hypothermia. China - well someone up there really hates the Chinese - they've had everything from drought to flooding to killer winds. C says that this is just a cycle but I don't buy that. Something is going on. I'm not a climatologist but the weather patterns have been changing for a long time. When I was a kid we had snow every winter - enough to build some pretty big snowmen. Snow in Southern England now is rare as hen's teeth. C also says that after July 24 - Pioneer Day - the temps will start to drop and not hit 100 again this year. $5 says it will go back up. Let's see who wins the bet.
