Healthy?

This is too funny. Had to have my health screening on Saturday as I'm on C's insurance. All my numbers and I mean all including blood pressure were not even in pre-disease territory. The guy who I discussed them with told me that I must have such a healthy diet and I just nodded and smiled. He also told me to keep up the good work. So yesterday, 3 frappacino's, one chocolate bar and a chinese takeaway later I'm doing just that:-)

Russia flexes it's muscles but does anyone notice?

Er No.

Several people back home have talked about the spate of fully loaded Russian bombers (ie carrying cruise missiles!) "escorted" from UK airspace so I decided to have a look. Turns out that Putin quietly reinstated the cold war practice back in May and the RAF's quick reaction force is getting quite a workout as a result. Now why wasn't that on CNN???

Being over here really does cloud your worldview. I know the Daily Telegraph is rabidly conservative (Torygraph anybody) but at least all the local and international stuff is in there - you just avoid the editorials. By coffeebreak my worldview would be updated and any stories I wanted to follow up on I could. It's the scattergun approach to news a little of everything. Here news is buried after about a week under the next layer of well - news.

Oh and I've got that Rockwell health screening thingy on Saturday morning. So nothing but water from 8pm, lovely:-(

Maybe T-Mobile?

I think I just changed to T-mobile. Maybe. This Virgin pay as you go phone I've got is okay but the reception is terrible in some places (home, the store) so I've been checking out the competition and T-mobile looked like the best of the other pay as you goers. Verizon don't seem to get the concept at all. I tried to upgrade my phone yesterday but none of the stores we went to had the model I wanted. So I ordered it off the internet but so far there's been no confirmation from them. That's why I said maybe!

Utah drivers - even more dangerous when in reverse

I know this is one of my pet peeves but it still surprises me (and it shouldn't by now) how truly shite Utah drivers are.

This morning for example a quick trip to the shops. Made it into the car park with no trouble then almost get T-boned backwards by some dopey female in an outback. Guess she wasn't using her mirror cos she did look a bit less dopey when she noticed my car. Then we had a staring match. Like that's going to phase me. Finally she bumbles off into traffic, pulled out right in front of the bright red fire engine - lovely. On my way out I checked behind me both ways and therefore didn't reverse into the trolley boy.

Test Driving a Smart and Fernando - WTF?

Yesterday I test drove a Smart down in Park City. Both C and I had a go and it's a fun little car. No power steering and the controls are heavy but that's just the set up I had with my mini back in UK. I've been spoiled by having a scooby. Now you might be saying to yourself - small = not very safe and "remember the C5". Well I do and the Smart's higher than a mini so no problems there and when I got back I looked up Smarts on youtube. Fifth Gear did a crash test - 70mph in a concrete barrier, the car survived. We've put our deposit down can't wait for '08.

Fernando Alonso - what the fuck where you thinking? I watched F1 qualifying yesterday in Hungary and I saw what everyone else did. He came in they changed his tyres the board went up and instead of go, go, go - he just sat there, and sat there and then he went. Why the delay? His team mate, Hamilton was waiting to come in for new tires right behind Alonso no way he could've missed seeing the other McClaren in his rear view mirrors. Hamilton is currently leading the championship by 2 points. He was much quicker in practice and qualifying and judging by Ron Denis' body language and the scruff of the neck way he was holding Fernando's pit board guy - he wasn't in on the plan. In fact he looked downright livid. As a result of Alonso's little stunt he got his hot lap and pole position for today's race and Hamilton missed his hot lap by 10 seconds - the amount of time that Alonso held him up in the pits. Fernando - mate - unsportsmanlike conduct doesn't even cover it. All that respect that you've earned over the last few seasons just went out of the window. I hope Hamilton wipes the floor with you today.

Updated - Hamilton won on Sunday! Alonso was out of the points so now he's even further behind:-)
