The Fallout

And oh boy is there fallout!

I can't say too much about it here but they lost a lifetime member because of it and she - as I predicted is not a happy bunny. I'm going to do my diplomacy thing on Monday and tell her that it wasn't the whole board that made the decision just 3 - actually 2 and a half people (one of them goes whichever way the wind is blowing!!!!).

Fortunately I'm not getting any of the blame because I'd already covered my rear end by speaking to the lady on my own.

On a lighter note C's skiing is still going well - bit of a problem with his new boots - pressure point on his right ankle but REI were true to their word and exchanged the boots without a murmur. He's now got some technicas which look just like M's. I went with him this morning but not downhill, me and my Ipod did some serious x-country up at Solitude Nordic Center, first time skiing on my own and not with H. It was a little tiring because we normally ski a bit and then have a break etc but it was fun.

The really cool thing, I was on the Silver Lake trail watching the experts skiing across from Brighton to Solitude Village and on came "Clocks" by Coldplay, and that's when I got it - my technique, my rhythm, everything came together and I really did feel like I was flying! Of course now I feel like I've been on horseback for about 3 days but that'll pass.

Downhill Skiing with C!!

Ok first I'd like everyone reading this to sit down.

Sitting yet?

OK good,

C has taken up skiing - downhill skiing. Scary huh? Even scarier he's actually good at it. I went up last Sunday to have a lesson of my own and I did alright, could happily have stayed on easy street all day, didn't quite master the chairlift. Moonbeam was a little too steep for me and my body kept refusing to commit to the turns, which meant I kept falling over and over and over. Also I couldn't get up! because your ankle is locked into position the normal boost you get from lifting your heel is cancelled out!

Needless to say on Monday I ached from head to toe and my neck is only just getting the kinks out of it now.

Tomorrow C is coming up to the Nordic Centre with me and H and having a x-country ski lesson. I think he will find it radically different.
